Barbara Sparks, 81, of Houston, Texas passed away at her home March 3, 2010. She was born August 20, 1928 in Bethpage, Tennessee to parents Mary Lou Hanna Evans and Joe Evans. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Michael Sparks. She is survived by son Lee Sparks; daughter Tracy Sparks Frere; grandchildren Tonya Sparks Mills, Brian Sparks, Bronte Frere, Jordan Frere, and Marie Frere; great-grandchildren Evan Gerhard and Nash Mills; and sisters Kate Imoe and Joann Vickers. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service, 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, Texas 77082. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary, 500 East 3rd Street, Portales, New Mexico 88130-6014, 575-356-4455. Interment will follow at the Portales Cemetery, Portales, NM.
